Shawnice "Pepper" Wilson was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated as valedictorian from George Westinghouse High School and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. With a full athletic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, Pepper made a significant impact on her basketball team. She not only started as a freshman but was selected for the Big East All-Freshman Team. Additionally, she participated in the Sweet 16 and was a finalist for the USA U19 team in 2009.
After transferring to the University of Miami, Pepper continued to excel both academically and athletically. She earned a spot on the dean's list and made back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances. Upon graduating with her bachelor's degree, she went undrafted in the 2013 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx. Her talent opened doors for her to play professionally in countries such as Spain, Sweden, Italy, Bulgaria, and Poland. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she was inducted into Pittsburgh's All-Sports Hall of Fame in the class of 2021.
